I was thinking of a few people who have left LJ and missing them and then I remembered they are over here!
SO I came by to say hello. :)

I am here because there are people I don't want to lose track of.

    Livejournal sucks.

I also have to say...this place makes me very uncomfortable, too. Disgnosis? Asylum? Inmates?

Way to trivialize mental illness. 'Cause those of us with mood disorders, etc, don't get misunderstood enough.

I am also a bit confused because IJ says it will use the Miller Test to determine profanity, obscenity, etc. Their standards sound just like LJ. So what do we gain by being here? I don't understand. :(

    argh
god this place sucks. I've made a journal here but I guarantee I won't use it.

I'm usually the first to get in a righteous rage over injustice but to be honest...the latest really isn't getting to me. Does this make me like the person who when the nazi first went for the jews and then the homosexuals and the gypsies and by the time they got to me no one was left?

Of course, being deprived of a Livejournal is not quite the same as being put in a concentration camp, is it? Of all the unjust things in the world I find myself upset over on a daily basis, I just don't have any more righteous indignation left in me anymore. Yes, LJ sucks. Censorship is bad, although it's more about governments than private companies. Yes, it's not fair. Yes, they have shitty customer service.

If the worst injustice one ever encounters is what happened this week....count some blessings.

And yes, I know soon it will be me; my fanfic will have to come down; my journal could be deleted despite the fact that I don't even LIKE visual porn, incest, or underage irrelevant; it's all of fandom under attack here; I will lose my online social network; I am a heartless bitch, etc. I've read and followed and contemplated all the pov's now appearing all over the place.

    I have read this:
    http://ansuz.sooke.bc.ca/lawpoli/free-expression/tsol.php?r=na

and I agree with a lot of it. Everything we do in fandom is grey area to downright illegal. We're lucky it hasn't drawn more mainstream attention-- how many of us want our families, friends, colleagues to know we write gay sex or incest or draw naked children's story characters having sex?

I do think this country in particular is ridiculously prudish and these very approaches lead to hangups and repression, but.... I'm still not telling anyone about the stuff I write, you know?

The funny thing is...when it comes to legality, I think RPS might actually have the law more on its side, since there is no copyright infringement, and if the person is a public figure they legally have no expectation of privacy and can have their images, names, etc used by tabloids, satirists, comics and....writers.
